95% of thinning hair in men is caused by Androgenetic Alopecia, resulting in a receding hairline and thinning of the hair at the crown of the head.
This leaves a bald crown and a horseshoe-like pattern of hair around the sides and back of the head. Androgenetic Alopecia is influenced by three factors: age, a genetic tendency towards baldness, and an over-abundance of DHT in the hair follicle cause it to malfunction, and decrease the growth phase of the hair. Because of this, the growth phase become shorter, and the hair does not have the ability to grow to its full lenght.
If you've got thinning hair, you're not alone. Thinning hair and hair loss can be linked to many possible causes, including female pattern baldness. Unfortunately, despite the medical advances made in understanding and treating hereditary hair loss, many women are still misinformed about it and what they can do about it. Laser Therapy is an excellent 100% safe, affordable and hugely successful treatment to combat this problem.
Thinning Hair is Ageing Hair
Almost inevitably, as you age, your hair becomes thinner. At the age of 20 your hair is at its thickest. As you pass 20, your hair gradually begins to thin, shedding more than the normal 75 to 150 hairs per day. Sometimes women believe their hair is getting finer when it is actually getting thinner. Or they believe that their situation is temporary. In fact, research shows that almost 40% of women with thinning hair never expected it to happen. But thinning hair is a natural part of ageing and is surprisingly common, even among healthy women.
Stages of Female Pattern Hair loss
Women typically experience a somewhat different hair loss pattern that their male counterparts. Recent evidence has begun to shed light on the fact that female pattern hair loss is indeed a different inherited disease than male pattern baldness. Recent stdies show that the distribution and expression within families does not match that of male pattern hair loss, further supporting the theory that the two are separate genetic entities. Hair loss in women can begin anytime after the teenage years, but usually becomes more evident after the birth of a child or during menopause. Typically, the pattern of loss follows one of two categories.
In some cases, diffuse hair loss is evident all over the scalp causing a decrease in hair density throughout. In the other pattern, we typically see the hairline maintained or just a slight recession, with more significant thinning starting just behind the hairline that extends to the crown. In most cases, women's hair loss does not eventuate in total baldness of the affected area.
If you are among the many women who have hereditary hair thinning, it may be difficult to feel your best. Thinning hair can present a strong challence to your sense of self worth and confidence and some women have reported feeling the following: Embarrasment - Devastated - Less feminine - Less likely to succeed in business - Helpless - Less desirable - Socially unaccaptable - Less sexy - Like you are losing your youth
But It Should Never Be That Way!!
It takes courage to confront the situation, but a little courage will go a long way. Taking control of your thinning hair, just as you take control of the rest of your body, your diet and your skin care, can make all the difference. At Nu-Follica we are uniquely suited to diagnose and treat hair loss. But ultimately, it is important to recognize that the way you perceive yourself affects the way people respond to you. If you project a positive image of yourself, people will see you accordingly.
Nu-Follica have to solution for your hair problem and can offer what you've always wanted for your hair. That's our promise!
Why is this method better than surgery?
Although transplants have improved from bulky and obvious plugs to micro-grafts there are still limitations due to lack of donor area. Since the hair is taken in strips from the back of the head, cut into small grafts and re-inserted to the front, you can’t get the density that is needed to make your hair line look natural. It is simply like a half of an apple pie sitting on the table. No matter how thin you slice that pie and move around the pieces, you still have half a pie! Even if you are young and have a lot of your own hair, as you mature your hair will continue to thin leaving the transplanted material more obvious. With an estimated thousand hairs per square inch on a health scalp- you do the math.
The best group to point this out is Hollywood. It is no surprise that people like Elton John, Burt Reynolds, Sean Connery, Michael Keaton, Chuck Norris and a cast of others have opted for non-surgical options. These are some of the wealthiest people in America who have access to the best doctors, yet they were well informed and made a realistic decision.
I’m older and don’t need a lot of hair. I just want to look my real age.
The great thing about Hair by Hair Reconstruction is you can have as much or as little hair as you want. For older clients we create recession, thinner density and perhaps grey hair percentages consistent with your existing hair. We want to make you look great, no matter what your age. During the initial steps in reconstructing your hair, we take careful notes of your graying patterns, frontal hair lines and ask for detailed information about your lifestyle and how you envision yourself.
Is this real hair and will I be able to wash and style it like when I had a lot more hair?
Yes. We use the finest real human hair because there is no substitute! Because the Hair by Hair Reconstruction process uses real human hair, you can shampoo and condition, style it and even use gel or mouse to get that style you’ve always wanted. When you get out of the shower, you can comb your hair effortlessly and shape it any way you want.
I’m only 26 and like to play sports and go swimming. Should this concern me?
No. Because we have been perfecting Hair by Hair Reconstruction for a number of years, we focused on making the process for very active individuals. Because this method is non-intrusive and does not hinder or harm your scalp or existing hair, sweating or swimming is not a problem. Matter or fact, you can actually see your own scalp wherever you part the hair.
My hair is unique. It’s red and very curly Can you do hair like this?
Yes. We also specialize in hair from every ethnic background and every nationality. Whether your hair is thick and black, afro, or you have salt and pepper grey, we can recreate just about any hair color. Hair is our business and we’ve been doing it for a long time.
I am completely bald on top and I don’t want the change to be drastic. What can I do?
The great thing about this process is how natural it looks, but more importantly, we can make it look like your hair is growing back progressively. The Hair by Hair Reconstruction process can be done in steps over time. We can start in the crown area and increase density over time. Although most people just go for the gold, this option is available. Also, many clients begin to grow facial hair before they go with the process and then shave after it is completed. It is amazing how people notice you look good, but can’t put their finger on it. This process looks so natural, you too will forget what you used to look like without hair.
How do you do it and how long does it take?
The Hair by Hair Reconstruction process is unique in that we match your hair with other human hair based on color, wave or curl and density. Then, follicle by follicle, we reconstruct your new head of hair based on these parameters to give you a very natural looking outcome. Since this is a very labor intensive and time consuming process, most of the work is done while the client is not there. Then, on the big day, when we actually do the procedure, you can have your hair back in less than two hours.
What is the cost?
It really depends on the amount of work that must be done. Because there is such a wide variety of hair loss it is necessary to see each individual. That is why our consultations are free. There is no pressure. Matter of fact, if we feel you do not have enough hair loss, we’ll gladly provide you with tips on maintaining your current hair and a health scalp, and have you visit us at a later date to see how your hair is progressing.
When should I start having Laser Therapy?
If you are concerned about your hair loss, the earlier you start the better. There is nothing more ageing or detrimental to a person's appearance than thinning, lifeless hair. The longer you wait to do something about it the less change there is to see a good result. Once you start using Laser Therapy you will feel better about your appearance with an added sense of self confidence.
Does Laser Therapy work for everyone?
Simply this, just as fresh air and exercise is "good" for the body, Laser is good for the hair. So whether it is a matter of boosting and thickening your hair, Laser Phototherapy "works" on virtually everyone. The only question is how much?
How do we lose hair?
To understand this you need to know the basics about the hair shedding/replacement cycle. Actually, every single hair on ones head grows for a number of years and than falls out. The root that grew it then rests for some weeks before it starts to replace the fallen hair with a new one from the same root. This ongoing cycle continues throughout our lives. But in the case of many people, progressively (or regressively) as we age, less hairs are replaced than are shed. They are progressively replaced with hair that is finer and lighter in shade so that thinning hair occurs.
Is Laser Therapy safe?
The Laser Therapy apparatus that is used by all Hair Options @ M'LORD.SA comply with all the applicable safety regulations everywhere in the world and is FDA approved. Cold beam laser technology of the type used in our Lasers has been in International use for many years in the broad spectrum of hair care applications. The power level of our Lasers is so low that it is virtually a mere vibration, one that is completely harmless yet very effective. Rather than having negative side effects, Laserphototherapy has been in use for many years by scientists and physicians.
How often should I have treatment?
After a thorough examination during you Free Hair Check, a personalized treatment program will be suggested for you. This program is designed to give the ultimate frequency of treatments to assure the best possible results. These series of treatments should as closely as possible be followed as it is of the utmost importance that the correct procedure is followed.
How long does it take to see results?
Average is between 5 to 10 weeks. Sometimes in only a few treatments. After that, the hair gradually becomes thicker. Of course everybody is different and results differ between individuals. It is not a miracle procedure, just be patient and more importantly, realistic.
Does it work on the whole scalp or only at the back of the head?
laser Therapy's energy works on the whole scalp: Back, front, top and sides.
Can I use it with other treatments?
Laser Therapy replaces ongoing hair loss treatments thereby saving you their high cost. However, if you wish to continue using these treatments, you can. Laser Therapy may complement their effectiveness. Understand your own hair and do what feels best for you. Although we strongly recommend that you follow the instructions from the therapist to receive optimum results.
How does Laser Phototherapy work?
There are theories on how Laser Phototherapy works. Soft tissue and fluids in our bodies vibrate at a similar frequency to that of cold-beam, red- light laser. One of the many scientific theories is that cells are largely dependant for healthy function on an exchange of energy and 'information' with surrounding cells. This is achieved via individual wave systems by which cells communicate through inter-connective plasma. A cell is in an unhealthy state when its vibrations become irregular or out of step with this common communication system. However, it may be brought back into harmony by being irradiated with low level laser working at quantum level.
What is the best hair loss treatment?
Besides Laser Therapy treatment of course; there is no genuine simple answer to this. No one treatment is spectacular for the average individual. However, there are a few treatments that yield decent results for the majority of people. (Decent is defined as cessation of further hair thinning and perhaps some re-growth, ranging from a little to moderate.) Some people do respond usually well - but then again some don't respond at all. Most people fall somewhere in between. Since pattern loss is multifactorial, it is probably wisest to approach the problem from several angles to maximize results as some treatments are complementary and address different underlying causes. Still other approaches that may help include dietary and nutritional considerations and even lifestyle modifications.
How long does it take to see some results from any treatment?
Results vary with the age of the user, the duration of time in which hair loss has been experienced and the extent of the hair loss. All customers do experience some positive results within two months. Remember there are on miracles cures and a patient and realistic attitude is essential.
Six weeks ago I started using X and now my hair is shedding like crazy. What is happening?
Sometimes treatments will cause follicles to "wake up" a few weeks early in the initiating hair growth. This causes the old dormant hair that is still present to suddenly be ejected prematurely. Thus you may see a temporary wave of increased loss. It's only an apparent increase in actual loss, however, as this falling hair had stopped its growth cycle many weeks earlier and was just waiting to drop out. Increased fallout of this sort should normalize within a few weeks. If it continues over a prolonged period of time (several months) it may be that the treatment is contraindicated.
A few days ago I began using X and now I'm losing a lot of hair. Why?
This week's loss has nothing to do with what you've been doing the last few days. The hair fall out you see this week is actually hair that ended its growth cycle many weeks ago. Thus today's loss is a picture of the state of your scalp from at least 2 - 4 weeks (and probably more like 6 - 12 weeks) ago. This hair was already in the loss phase, in other words, before you even started your recent treatment. Thus short of mechanically pulling hair out and thus forcing it out prematurely, this week's loss is completely uninfluenced by what you're doing this week. Any loss you're now seeing is coincidental to other events. Similarly, what you're doing treatment wise today won't be reflected in your fallout until several weeks from now.
Is there a guarantee?
Yes!! Should the Laser therapy doesn't show the improvement we predicted, we will credit up to half the Laser Therapy fee for our HAIR by HAIR Reconstruction Procedure. No other laser therapy company offers this type of guarantee.
Many people have never heard of Trichology and are not aware of what a Trichologist can do. Most would be surprised to learn that the profession initially began in the UK in 1902 and has slowly spread to the rest of the world. People often ask where the 'Tri' part of the name comes from, thinking it is something to do with three or triple. It actually originates from the ancient Greek word Trikhos meaning hair.
The definition of Trichology is 'the science of the scalp and hair in health and disease' therefore a Trichologist is a specialist of the scalp and hair in health and disease. However, people should be aware that there are no laws or rules to stop an unqualified, untrained person calling themselves a Trichologist. If you are considering visiting a Trichologist, check they are qualified with a legitimate organization and are insured. There are a vast array of unscrupulous, unqualified so-called specialists who pray on venerable hair loss sufferers, motivated by reward of high profit.
The role of the practicing Trichologist is often far more than 'hair and scalp specialist'. We often also wear the hats of councilor, detective, friendly ear, shoulder to cry on, teacher, mentor, advisor, life coach are to name but a few. Trichologists are trained and educated privately much like Homeopaths, Chiropractors, Acupuncturists and Herbalists. Once trained and registered, practitioners are then expected to practice in accordance with a codes of ethics and professional practice guidelines.
Conditions a Trichologist may see or treat include: Alopecia Areata, Totalis & Universalis, Hair Thinning, Male and Female Pattern Baldness, Telogen Effluvium, Seborrhoeic Dermatitis, Scalp Eczema & Psoriasis, Seborrhoea, Scalp Itching, Head Lice, Hair Breakage & Damage.
Trichologists are not restricted to one particular form of treatment and have the flexibility to choose between conventional or complementary medicine, depending on which is most appropriate for the patients condition. There are a vast number of natural compounds, herbs, oils and nutrients often having a greater effect on certain conditions than orthodox methods, with little or no side effects. Many sufferers of hair loss and scalp conditions have visited their own Doctor or Dermatologist, only to have their problem dismissed or trivialized as cosmetic, aesthetic and not life threatening. The anxiety and depression of the suffer told 'it will right itself' or ' you'll just have to live with it' is exasperated. This is where the Trichologist comes in!
Trichology is the branch of medicine that deals with the scientific study of the health of hair and scalp. Trichologists themselves are not normally medically qualified although members of the medical profession can undertake courses and/or careers within trichology.
